Where possible, we have included links to local transport services. It is adviseable to check these links as transport options, timetables etc can quite often change.

By Bus

There are several bus services that run to, from and through Woodbridge.

Visit the Suffolk on Board Website for further information including timetables for these services.

Concessionary Travel  

Bus passes and taxi vouchers are administered and issued by Suffolk County Council and not Suffolk Coastal District Council. For further details visit the Suffolk County Council website.

Rural transport for Suffolk Coastal — If you live in a rural village and are unable to connect to public transport connecting communities may be able to help, we have a mixture of transport solutions and will advise you on the right option of transport for your required trip or to connect you if possible to your nearest public transport provider.   Listed below is the options currently available in the Woodbridge area.

 

Community Dial a Ride Scheme

Uses minibuses to operate a demand led, first come, first served, service within a defined area. They are fully adapted to meet the needs of people with mobility impairment. Fares are charged per passenger and all journeys are pre-booked by or on behalf of passengers.   Passengers will need to be registered but registration is free and can be done over the phone.   This service is operated by volunteer drivers. Minibuses are often available for group use, with or without driver, during evenings and weekends.

 

Framlingham & Woodbridge  Community Car Scheme - (covering Woodbridge, Framlingham and surrounding villages)

If you have no car in your household and there is no suitable public transport available then the Framlingham & Woodbridge Community Car Scheme may be able to help. Visits such as to get to the doctors or the shops or to visit friends in hospital.  Give them a call and they will try to help.

Volunteer drivers use their own cars on a non-profit making basis.  Passengers are asked to contribute on a mileage basis towards the cost of a journey and current charges will be advised when booking.  This service is supported by Suffolk County Council.

 

Connecting Communities South (demand Led bus service)

This is a demand responsive bus service covering a defined area, bookings can be made two weeks in advance and bus passes are accepted.   For more information on this service please call the office Monday to Friday 08.45 to 16.00

By Rail

The Railway Station at Woodbridge stands between the town and the picturesque River Deben giving easy access to walks along the river and is served by Abellio  Greater Anglia.  It is linked to the main national railway system with the branch line that runs from Ipswich to Lowestoft.

There is a taxi rank outside the railway station.
