Competitive Badminton

Woodbridge Badminton Club meets at Farlingaye High School on Friday evenings during the winter and Tuesdays during the summer. We’re looking for competitive, club-standard players to compete in the Ipswich and District Badminton League.

Chess Club

Woodbridge Chess Club meets every Wednesday for fun and competitive chess games.
All playing abilities from beginner to GM are welcome and chess equipment is provided. Juniors (under 18) are very welcome to come along but should attend with an accompanying adult.

We will meet at 19:00 at the Cherry Tree Pub, 73 Cumberland St, Woodbridge IP12 4AG. There are no board fees to pay but the pub does expect us to buy a beverage or a packet of cheese moments etc.

East Suffolk Association for the Blind

East Suffolk Association for the Blind (ESAB) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) providing services for the visually impaired. The organisation was established in 1914 to provide help to visually impaired people in East Suffolk, with the aims of helping them to continue to live independently in their own homes as well as continue to lead an active and full life in their chosen community. Services available include:

• Locally based socials and club activities, including summer and Christmas events.

• Our Community Workers undertake home visiting and telephone based support.

• Our Community Workers are trained in the Demonstration of low vision aids and assessment of needs for magnification.

• We can help with the facilitation or acquisition of daily living aids to enable continued independent living for visually impaired people.

• Providing information and sign-posting to services in local hospital eye clinics and other organisations.

• We publish a twice–yearly Newsletter containing many interesting and informative articles for those living with sight loss.

Martial Arts

Blackwell Academy Woodbridge is a martial arts club offering Karate, Kickboxing and Krav Maga self defence classes to both children and adults. We currently have around 70 members from around the Woodbridge area.

The clubs training nights are currently held on Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm and Saturdays between 10am and 1pm at the Fred Reynolds Centre in Woodbridge, and Tuesdays at Martlesham Village Hall, Top St, Old Martlesham.

Ladies. Are you fed up with sitting at home feeling lonely? Why not come along and join us. We have loads of fun, going out for lunches, the cinema, outings, social gatherings and much more locally and around East Anglia. We get dressed up and look good. So give yourself a reason to glam up and make some new friends.

Red Hatting is about Friendship, Fun, Freedom, Fitness and Fulfilment. Ladies over 50 please wear purple clothes from the shoulder down with red hats. Ladies under 50 please wear lilac with pink hats. Don’t worry if you haven’t got all the gear, come along and meet us anyway. You’ll be very welcome.

We hold our meetings at 12 noon on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Lunch is optional. At The Coach and Horses. Melton Road, Melton near Woodbridge IP12 1PD.
We also meet regularly for Lunch Mondays on the 4th Monday of each month at different locations.
