Kingston Field, donated to the Town in 1955, is situated near the River Deben and offers a large unobstructed grassed area for outdoor activities and games.
The field provides users with an all weather 5 a side football area, a basketball area and hoop, an all weather cricket wicket, concrete table tennis table and many seats and benches.
There is also a Coffee Shop in the Pavilion which is open 7 days a week during the Summer. Car Parking areas are located beside the field.
The large enclosed play area is suitable for a wide range of children featuring many items of traditional play equipment including a popular aerial runway.
The play area also offers a shaded picnic area complete with benches.
The "Rock n' Cross" play equipment combines a multi rider see-saw with a dynamic overhead challenge to create a truly new and exciting activity. The SkyGame may be the most challenging and rewarding overhead event in the playground. The users must lift and push the "pods" along the rails to move from end to end much like a "hand-over-hand" activity.
In May 2010 the Town Council invested £20,000 to further A brand new set of 6 bays swings with 4 Flat Seat Swings for older children and 2 Cradle Swings for babies and toddlers. Furthermore, an existing 'Birds Nest' Cantilever Swing has been installed for those who enjoy a challenge.
A Petanque Piste (French Boules) area has been constructed and is now open to all. Click Here to find out more about Petanque.
There is also a local Petanque League which play on Sunday mornings - Click Here to find out more
We also maintain a small number of allotments between the tennis courts and railway track and keep a waiting list for those wishing to join - The current wait is around five - seven years. To email the Deputy Town Clerk to register your interest click here.
