War Memorial & Garden of Remembrance

A tranquil setting within a buzzing area of Woodbridge, the Garen of Remembrance and War Memorial is a place to remember and show gratitude to the local residents whose lives were lost.

The War Memorial is situated in the Garden of Remembrance on Market Hill and contains a marble and stone inscribed memorial and a stone carving of Queen Victoria.

The Memorial is in the form of a Latin Cross on an octagonal column resting on a plinth with a three stepped base. There are 133 names for WW1 and 56 for WW2.

In 1998 a group of volunteer researches formed the Woodbridge War Memorial project to find out all they could about the men whose names appear on the War Memorial. The work was recorded in a file and presented to the Town on St George's Day in 1999 where it may be consulted in the Shire Hall during office hours.
