Notice is hereby given that due to the resignation of Patrick Gillard, a vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for the Town Council.
As an election has not been called, under Rule 8(3) of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) Rules 1986, the Town Council may co-opt a new Councillor as soon as practicable.
In accordance with Local Government Act 1972, section 79, in order to be eligible the candidate must:
- be 18 years old or over; and
- is an elector for the parish; or
- has resided in the parish for the past twelve months or rented/tenanted land in the parish; or
- had his/her principal place of work it the parish; or
- has lived within three miles of the parish.
Under section 80 of the same act there are disqualifications, and these relate to bankruptcy, restriction orders and conviction of a criminal offence leading to imprisonment.

Applications should be received no later than midday on Friday 16th January 2026.
The Council will seek to co-opt a new Councillor at its meeting on Wednesday 21st January.
