The Fen Meadow Community Engagement Survey closed on the 24th August 2025 and received 224 responses, showing that the area is highly valued for walking, nature, dog walking, and family use. While there is widespread agreement that the play area needs improvement—particularly in terms of equipment quality, safety, visibility, and maintenance—the community is divided on whether it should be relocated. A slight majority (130 vs. 94) favour retaining the current location, highlighting its shade, natural setting, and distance from housing.

Those supporting relocation see potential benefits in visibility and accessibility but raise concerns about drainage, loss of open space for ball games, and impacts on biodiversity and nearby residents. Across both views, respondents emphasised the importance of natural-style equipment, spaces suitable for a wider age range, more seating, and careful integration with the meadow’s character. Overall, the findings suggest that upgrading the existing play area—while preserving Fen Meadow’s unique natural environment—is the community’s preferred direction.

The committee agreed that the refurbishment of the existing play be preferable than relocating new equipment in the open Fen, watch this space for the plans once they become availible.
