Can you spare some time to keep others warm this winter?

5th Woodbridge Sea Scouts are working with the Government, East Suffolk Council and Woodbridge Town Council to offer the public a Warm Rooms space until March.

What is Warm Rooms?

Warm Rooms is an initiative aimed at reducing household energy costs and isolation during the coldest months of the year. The idea is that community organisations like ours open up their spaces so members of the public can come in out of the cold, have a cup of tea and spend some time with other people – all for free. To this end, the scout hut will be open for six hours on a Tuesday and Friday to welcome anyone who would like to join us.

Warm Rooms is part of an East Suffolk Council campaign called Ease the Squeeze, developed to help residents with the cost of living.

How can I help?

We need volunteers to support our Warm Room sessions. You’ll help open up the hut, get chairs out, make tea, chat to visitors and then put everything away at the end. You don’t need to commit to the full six hours – every little helps! Indeed, we’d love to hear from you even if you can only sign up for one session in the next six months.

What do I do now?

If you would like to help, please email us at warm@5wss.org.uk. Please also pass this email along to anyone else you think might like to get involved.
